In commemoration of International Women’s Day (IWD) on 8 March 2022, Petrotrade in partnership with Zimbabwe Women Lawyers Association (ZWLA) held a workshop to discuss issues which affect women at workplaces to create a fair and conducive working environment.
International Women’s Day is a world day of celebrating women’s achievements in social, economic, cultural, and political spheres and the day belongs to all groups worldwide. IWD also focuses on raising awareness on the importance of women equality. Gloria Steinem, renowned feminist, and journalist viewed that “The story of women’s struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organization but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights”.
Petrotrade workshop gave women the platform to discuss issues to do with sexual harassment, creating a workplace where women thrive, improve equality and empowerment for women, breaking the bias surrounding these issues. Petrotrade has become progressive in breaking down barriers for women to make it into leadership through the inclusion of five women out of seven board of directors and 2 women in top management.
Celebrating women is a way of appreciating women in all walks of life for their efforts and responsibilities in making the world a better place in families, communities and societies.
